A Russian businessman of Greek origin, shareholder of the Agrocom food group, former owner of Russian tobacco factories, owner of the Greek football club PAOK, sea port of Salonika and other businesses in Greece. According to the magazine The American Interest, the oligarch represents Russian political interest in Greece. In 2020, for example, Mr. Putin decorated Mr. Savvidis with the order for achievements. OCCRP project investigating corruption and organized crime investigated into Mr. Savvidis financing protests in Macedonia in 2018, which were aimed at disrupting the integration of the country into NATO. 

He is number 83 on the Russian Forbes 2021 list.

Mr. Savvidis was twice elected a member of the State Duma as a representative of the United Russia party, publicly welcomes the annexation of Crimea, was a sponsor of a number of patriotic festivals on the peninsula. In April of 2022, he sent automobiles and generators to the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic and received personal appreciation from leaders of that group.
