On May 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed NSDC sanctions on 58 Russian citizens and 74 companies, most of which are related to the Russian military-industrial complex. Among them are those part of the Trap Aggressor investigations.

The sanctions list also included three companies from Iran and Uzbekistan, as well as one company from Hong Kong. The Chinese Smart Kit Technology Limited was involved in the supply of electronic integrated circuits to the Russian Federation. The Iranian Alvand Motorbuilding Industries Company is a manufacturer of UAVs. The Uzbek Fergana Chemical Plant and Raw Materials Cellulose appeared in journalistic investigations as enterprises that supply cotton pulp to Russian gunpowder factories both directly and through private intermediaries.

Among the persons who were part of the Trap Aggressor investigations, the following were included in the sanctions lists:

  • Stupinskaya Metallurgical Company. A key producer of alloys for the Russian military-industrial complex, in particular for rocket engines and combat aircraft. Until July 2024, the company imported European raw materials through partners in Turkey, China, Italy, and Israel. Sometimes, bypassing international sanctions.
  • Grankom. A subsidiary of JSC Ruspolymet, which produces import-substituting products: powders and granules for the aviation industry and the fuel and energy complex.
  • RES Engineering. A company that is also part of JSC Ruspolymet and specializes in the development, production, and supply of thermomechanical equipment for nuclear power plants (NPPs) with VVER-type reactors. The company is a key supplier for the state corporation Rosatom and is involved in the implementation of more than 30 NPP power units in various countries around the world, including Russia, Turkey, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, and China.

Zelenskyy’s sanctions list also includes companies for which the Trap Aggressor team prepared public analyses (included in the map of European assets of Russian UAV manufacturers) and non-public analytical materials. Among them:

  • Optical and mechanical design bureau Astron. Produces thermal imaging optics, detectors, and devices based on them. Manufacturer of FPV drones Kurs-800TB and Granat-PG.
  • Solikamsk Magnesium Plant. One of the key enterprises in Russia in the field of magnesium and rare earth metals production.
  • Vacuum Metallurgy Plant. Specializes in the production of titanium ingots for the aviation, shipbuilding, and defense industries.
  • Lovozero Mining and Enrichment Plant. The only enterprise in Russia engaged in the extraction and enrichment of loparite ore, which contains rare earth metals, tantalum, niobium, and titanium. These metals are critically important for the Russian defense-industrial complex. It is the loparite concentrate produced at the Lovozero Mining and Processing Plant that is supplied to the Solikamsk Magnesium Plant.
