Trap Aggressor and a global coalition of civil society organizations urge state authorities to preserve the War and Sanctions portal

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has closed access to online databases on the War and Sanctions website managed by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP). These were the essential tools that helped promote a responsible business exit from Russia, thereby minimizing Russia’s ability to continue militarizing and inflicting further suffering on the Ukrainian people. Publicly available databases on Western tools and components used to produce Russian weapons, as well as lists of businesses that still operate in Russia, helped Ukrainian and foreign state authorities increase reputational pressure over Western companies that still collaborate with the aggressor country. The lists have the potential to be used for the creation of the most advantageous for Ukraine framework of future reparations and windfall taxes of companies which are profiting on the suffering of the Ukrainian people.

Trap Aggressor partnered with NACP and contributed to the War and Sanctions portal. Our team of analysts and journalists-investigators provided NACP useful information on people and businesses that still have close ties with Russia, sell components or tools for production of Russian weapons and/or help it circumvent Western sanctions. That’s why we are taking part in this public statement in partnership with B4Ukraine, which is a global coalition of civil society organizations driven by a common goal to block access to the economic resources behind Russian aggression.

Trap Aggressor, alongside with B4Ukraine, urges Ukrainian state authorities to preserve the War and Sanctions portal and explore all possible options, such as an urgent revision of its methodology and creating an inter-agency and legal framework that would help strengthen it. We express our readiness to contribute to this process as an independent civil society organization or as part of the inter-agency taskforce.
