The UK government has announced the introduction of the largest-ever package of sanctions targeting a network of tankers involved in the transportation of oil against restrictions. According to an official statement, up to 100 vessels have been hit by sanctions, which have transported more than $24 billion in cargo since the beginning of 2024.

According to British authorities, these vessels are key in the schemes for transporting Russian oil in circumvention of sanctions. Many of them turn off tracking systems, change flags, and transship at sea, which makes them difficult to track.
