Austrian company Diamond Aircraft is hiding data on buyers of aircraft engines that ended up in Russia. This was brought to the attention of the Trap Aggressor team. In June of this year, journalists sent a letter to Diamond Aircraft to provide information about the buyers of two AE-300 engines of the E4-A type, which the company produces, indicating unique serial numbers. These devices were listed in a Russian tender in 2024, as a result of which the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UCAP) supplied them to the Ulyanovsk Civil Aviation Institute for the amount of 510 thousand euros. Following the publication of the Trap Aggressor investigation and the Austrian media outlet Kronen Zeitung, Austrian Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs informed the investigating authorities about the alleged cooperation of Austrian companies with Russia.
«The Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs is aware of the materials published in the newspapers Welt am Sonntag and Kronen Zeitung. Prevention of sanctions evasion and compliance with sanctions by Austrian companies are important issues for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs and the responsible departments,» — the ministry added.
The Austrian Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs emphasized that Russia should not receive support in the war against Ukraine. The ministry submits suspicions of sanctions circumvention to the competent investigative authorities. Just like in the case of Diamond Aircraft, which produces airplanes.
«The Ministry pays great attention to ensuring that Russia does not receive direct or indirect support in its unjust war of aggression. As in any other suspicious case, the relevant export control department of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs always informs the competent investigating authorities. This was done in this case as well… However, Austrian Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs does not know whether these companies were actually aware of the circumvention or even actively participated in it. The answers to these questions are within the competence of the relevant investigative authorities, which have been informed», — the ministry said.
