A Cypriot company, video games about the “greatness of the USSR” and the production of components for Russian weapons are part of the same scheme. Russian businessman Anatoliy Paliy, through his “international” company Gem Capital, simultaneously invests in the creation of propaganda video games and provides Russian defence with critical chemicals for the production of components used in the war against Ukraine. Trap Aggressor journalists found a supply of cyanide to a Russian company that specializes in assembling engines for military helicopters, airplanes, fighters, bombers, and transport aircraft.

• In 2020, GEM Capital, owned by Anatoliy Paliy, acquired the Corund-Cyan cyanide plant.
• In 2024, PJSC TM (Tyumen Motor Builders) purchased cyanide sodium and cyanide copper from Corund-Cyan JSC. The company assembles engines for military helicopters, airplanes, fighters, bombers and transport aircraft.

Gem Capital is an international private equity and venture capital investment company. The company is headquartered in Paphos, Cyprus. The company was founded in 2017 by entrepreneur Anatoliy Paliy as a result of consolidation of oil and gas assets, including First Oil.

One of GEM’s portfolio companies is Mundfish, a game studio. It was founded in 2017 by Russians in Cyprus and is best known as the developer of Atomic Heart, a computer game that was released in 2023 and caused many scandals in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The game glorifies the USSR and communism, ridicules the killing of Ukrainians, collects gamer data for the FSB, and is used to sell Russian military equipment.
