The family of Vadim Badekha, CEO of United Engine Corporation (UEC), is creating blockchain-based payment systems in Singapore and the Netherlands while Badekha’s companies sell goods to the Russian military-industrial complex.

Key takeaways:
  • Father of Vadym Badekha’s ex-wife owns the Copernicus Gold payment system with legal entities in Singapore and the Netherlands.
  • Brother of Badekha’s ex-wife lives in Europe and has a payment systems business in India and the United States

Vadim Badekha is the head of the UEC and former CEO of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UCAP), which is still not sanctioned by the West. Badekha actively participates in meetings with top state officials and is actively supporting Russian military-industrial complex, in particular, promoting the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Back in 2020, when Badekha was the head of the UCAP, Russian Ministry of Defence signed major contracts with the UZGA for the development and supply of large UAVs. A report from the Defence Ministry’s Information Department mentioned a contract for 10 Forpost-R UAV systems. UCAP also designed the Altius (Altair) UAV for the Russian army. After this plant received a controlling stake in Luch Design Bureau, it became a kind of center of competence for the development of piston-engine UAVs. In addition to the localized Forposts and Altair, the short-range Corsair UAV was developed by Luch Design Bureau under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence since 2012.

The UEC, which has been headed by Badekha since 2023, is part of the Rostec state corporation, has a complex structure and includes a number of design bureaus and enterprises.

In 2015, Vladimir announced a new payment system, Copernicus Gold, based on blockchain technology and backed by physical gold. This system has two offices in Singapore and the Netherlands. The Dutch legal entity is called CPN Gold B.V., which founded the Russian company Intek LLC, managed by Ksenia Badekha. The company does not have an official website, but indicates the areas of work as software development and other computer services.

In addition to Ksenia, Frolov has two other children: Alexander, CEO of Stroy-Aktsent, a construction holding company involved in corrupt construction schemes, and Andrey, who owns Salt coworking spaces in Moscow and Yekaterinburg. Previously, Andrey used to work in his father’s banks.
